My name is Flo, and I am currently pursuing my MSci in Nutrition.
My passion for nutrition began out of necessity at age fifteen, when I was faced with a severe vitamin B12 deficiency. My deficiency had somehow snuck up on me as I naively put my symptoms of fatigue, muscle weakness, weight loss, and psychological struggles down to "just being a teenager". It took some time after my first treatments before I started to realise how severely this had impacted my life. But once I did, there was no going back. I was in awe of the world of nutrition.
My journey didn't stop there. In my second year of university, I faced poor health when I started to experience palpitations and fainting every time I stood up. Besides hospital appointments, I was rather housebound for a few months. After numerous scans, tests, and appointments, I was diagnosed with two dysautonomia conditions. This diagnosis left me with a collection of medications to try, along with some lifestyle changes. I'm still learning to live with these conditions, adapting my lifestyle, diet and exercise regime in an attempt to reduce the effects it has on my life.
Through these experiences, I've gained invaluable insights into how our diet and lifestyle choices can impact our health. I created this website to share my knowledge, experiences, and the recipes that have supported my health journey. Whether you're looking better understand nutrition, find inspiration for healthy recipes, or insights into managing health challenges, I hope you find my website a helpful resource.
Stay healthy and happy,
Flo.
